TV advertising revenue up 11% in first half of 2024

TV advertising revenue has had a standout first half to 2024 with total H1 commercial TV revenue up 11% on the 2023 figure.

TAM Ireland can report that revenues of €133,814,036 were recorded for January-June 2024 (revenue figure includes spot, non-spot and BVOD commercial revenue) which represents the highest H1 figure over the past 6 years.

The increase is on the back of strong viewing data, where total time spent viewing to commercial channels is up 6% yoy to 104 mins per day. (Ads 15+). 85% of this viewing was to Live (as broadcast) TV.

This viewing momentum has continued across July and August thanks in part to an exceptional array of sports content such as the all-Ireland Hurling and Football Finals, the Euro 2024 finals and the Olympics. The anticipated release of exciting new Autumn programming schedules from the broadcasters will ensure the Irish population will continue to be glued to their TV screens in the months to come.
