Board of Directors

Alan is chief executive of Core Media, one of Ireland's largest media buying groups. He is a director of TAM Ireland, representing the interests of the member advertising agencies.

Alan has over twenty five years experience in the advertising industry, including spells in production, full service account management and media. Among the agencies where Alan has worked were Bell Advertising, The Network (Ogilvy's new media company, where he also sat on the European board) and Carat Ireland.

Alan is a graduate of the College of Commerce and has served on many industry committees, including those dealing with radio listenership and outdoor research. In addition to his work in advertising, he spent a number of years working as a radio presenter in the "pirate" days on stations including Radio Nova and Capitol Radio.

Dave is Research Manager for TG4 and also has experience of managing the stations' schedule and library since joining the then TnaG in 1999.

Previously, he was the group statistician for IMSG, incorporating Irish Marketing Surveys and Lansdowne Market Research. He has also worked for Nielsen as statistician in both the retail and TV audience measurement sections of their Irish operation.
 
Dave is a director of TAM Ireland and also serves on the Technical Committee.

Gareth has been Manager of the RTÉ Audience Research Unit since 2002. His remit covers not only television research but also radio, print and online media. Prior to joining RTÉ, Gareth worked as a freelance researcher / journalist for a number of years, after completing doctoral studies in Irish Politics.

Geraldine O’Leary, a Psychology graduate from University College Cork, has worked in the advertising industry since graduation. Agencies she has worked with include Brian Cronin & Associates, DDFH&B, Saatchi & Saatchi and Zenith Media.

Geraldine joined RTÉ in 1997 as Manager of Television Sales and was promoted to Director of Sales and Marketing in August 1999. In January 2003, she was appointed to her current role of Commercial Director, RTÉ Television and is now a member of the TV IBD Board.
 
Geraldine is a Fellow of The Marketing Institute and TAM Ireland and is a regular Chairperson / Speaker at Industry Conferences and Seminars. She was previously President of EGTA (European Group of Television Advertising).
 

Jeff is Director of Systems and Development at BSkyB a position he has held since 2005. Prior to this he was Media Director with Donovan Data Systems for 5 years.

Jeff has also worked in ITV and Granada Media.

John is Managing Director of Medialink, the company which sells and manages all commercial airtime for Channel 4 and E4 in the Republic of Ireland. Medialink is the largest independently-owned media representation business in Ireland and has built up the Channel 4 business since 1992.

John is also a director and shareholder in Digitize, a rapidly growing online advertising sales company. John is a director of TAM Ireland and also sits on the Technical Committee, Data Implementation Group and the Future Measurement Development Group.
John is currently the Chairman of TAM Ireland.

Mark is the VP Commercial Director of Viacom Brand Solutions and as a director of TAM Ireland, represents channels including MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon.

Mark commenced his career as a TV buyer with BMP Advertising in London in 1985 and was subsequently appointed TV Buying Director and a director of the Board. He joined Channel 5 in 1996 and helped set up the sales team, prior to the launch of the channel. He was subsequently appointed Sales Director for Virgin Radio, moving thereafter to Soulspace Advertising as a director. In 2005, he joined Viacom Brand Solutions.
 

Trevor is Head of Sales at Setanta Sports, responsible for all aspects of Setanta's advertising and sponsorship sales.

Trevor has worked in the media sales industry for over ten years. He joined Setanta from the Sunday Tribune where he held the position of Supplements Manager. Trevor is a director of TAM Ireland.
 

Technical Committee

Daragh is Research Manager for TV3 and 3e. Daragh has worked in virtually all areas of the advertising industry, having commenced his career at Media Audits (now Accenture) before moving to McCann Erickson as TV buyer and then subsequently to the position of Research and Marketing manager for UTV Sales in Dublin.

Dave is Research Manager for TG4 and also has experience of managing the stations' schedule and library since joining the then TnaG in 1999.

Fiona McCann is Sales Director of Medialink, which represents all Channel 4 and E4 Advertising Sales interests in the Irish market.

A graduate of the University of Manchester and the University of Ulster, she started her career in media when she joined UTV's London Sales office in 1990. She then moved to Channel 4 as part of the original ad sales team set up in 1992 and worked there happily for 11 years. She progressed to become a key member of the senior sales management team working across C4, E4 and Film 4.

She moved home to Ireland in 2003 and took her current role at Medialink. Fiona is also a director of Digitize and a member of the TAM Ireland Communications Group.

Grainne started her advertising career in 2001 as a TV Buyer in All Ireland Media (Carat Ireland). Prior to this, she worked in the travel Industry. After 3 years on the agency side, Grainne moved to the other side of the fence and joined RTÉ Television Sales, where she worked for over 2 years.

In 2006 she was involved in the launch of Channel 6 as a Senior Sales Executive. Grainne left Channel 6 in 2007 to become Channels Manager in TV3, assuming responsibility for TV opt-outs and other channels represented by 3Sales. The Channel mix included LIVING, Bubble Hits, City Channel, Channel 6 (3e) and to-date Universal Channel.

Grainne has been a member of the Technical Committee since 2007. 

Hugh is the Research Consultant on TV Audience Research for Channel 4. Hugh has been working in and with Research and Insight at Channel 4 since 1991 and has been involved in TV audience research in the UK for what he describes as "rather a long time". Previous to Channel 4, he worked for both Sky and ITV.

He has also recently been involved in TV research projects for various European and Chinese media organisations.
 
 
 

Imelda is a Research Officer within the Audience Research Unit of RTÉ having joined RTÉ in 2008. Prior to this she worked at Nielsen for 8 years, working in the Retail Measurement side of the business as Production Supervisor before moving to Television Audience Measurement in a Senior Client Service capacity.

Imelda is a member of the TAM Ireland Technical Committee.

Imelda is Research & Marketing Manager at Sky Media. Imelda started her career in the advertising industry as a TV Buyer in O’Keeffe Advertising after graduating from The College Of Commerce. Nick is the Broadcast Director in one of our member agencies, Publicis Media Ireland (part of Core Media). He graduated from the London School of Economics and joined Leo Burnett Media in London where he worked for two years. He then moved to Dublin, spending two years with Young Euro RSCG before moving to Publicis Media almost ten years ago.

Paul is Research and Marketing Manager for RTÉ Television Sales. He is a director of TAM Ireland and also sits on the Technical Committee.

Paul is an Economics graduate. He commenced his career in London with the BARB TV bureau and then moved to a number of research agencies in Dublin, including Irish Tam Ltd (who held the audience measurement contract in Ireland prior to the appointment of Nielsen) and Taylor Nelson MRBI.
 
 

 

Stephen has over eleven years experience in television research. This has been spent at UK-based media owners including ITV regional sales, UKTV and BSkyB where he is currently Media Research Controller.

He has worked on various large-scale research projects at BSkyB including SkyView, the largest TV viewing panel of its kind in the world. Stephen has served on many committees covering various aspects of BARB in the UK. 

Communications Group

Paul is Head Of Operations at RTÉ Television, a position he has held since 2009. Prior to this, he was Head of Operation of Sales and Marketing in RTÉ.

Paul is involved in many industry groups. He is the current Chair of the JNLR (Joint National Listenership Research), Chair of the On Demand Audiovisual Services Group and a Director of The Advertising Standards Authority. Paul sits on the Data implemention Group with TAM Ireland.

Education: MA Economics, Economic Development at Dalhousie University

Sam Bardwell is Head of Systems & Development at Sky Media responsible for the development of linear systems for the UK and Ireland. He started at Sky in 2001 in UK airtime sales and moved up to Group Manager before transferring to an operational role in 2006.

He played a leading role in switching Sky Media to the Landmark sales system and now sits on TAM, BARB and CARIA committees.

Future Measurement Development Group (FMDG)

Julian Dobinson joined British Sky Broadcasting in March 2000. In his current role as Director of Insight and Research he is responsible for audience and advertising sales research. He instigated, and in 2006 launched, the 33,000 SkyView panel, the first return path panel of its kind. He also represents BSkyB on the BARB Board of Directors.

Julian’s career started at Saatchi and Saatchi as a media planner. He has since worked on several sides of the media fence – agency, consultancy, and broadcaster.

Prior to joining BSkyB he spent 5 years at Granada Media (ITV) where he was Head of Research.

Justin Cullen is the Managing Director of Radical (one of Ireland’s largest digital marketing agencies) and Digital Director of Core Media, the largest media buying group in the market with billings in excess of €160m. He has one of the most extensive knowledge bases of the Irish Internet marketing space having being involved in the sector since its inception in Ireland in 1997. Since this time he has been involved in the digital marketing activities for some of the biggest and most successful brands in the country including Aer Lingus, Aviva, Musrgave and Pepsico to name a few.


He also specialises in working with media companies to understand and develop their online revenue channels. He works in a consultative capacity for Electric Media, Metro Herald, INM, Irish Times, Today FM, TG4 and TV3.


Prior to joining Radical Justin was a founder & Managing Director of Net Behaviour, a specialist digital media agency from 2005 – 2009. Before this, he spent ten years in Irish International Group in various senior management roles across Media & Client Service working on accounts such as Aer Lingus, Bank of Ireland, Masterfoods and Sony Music.
 

Justin is involved in a number of industry initiatives via IAPI, IAB and more recently TAM Ireland.

Alternate Directors

Aisling is a Senior Research Officer in RTÉ contributing to the management of the Audience Research Unit. With expertise in television, radio and digital media research, Aisling provides insights on Irish media audiences that inform editorial decisions, business strategy and market positioning at RTÉ.

She graduated from UCD with a BComm, specialising in Marketing, followed up by a Higher Diploma in Marketing. Prior to joining RTÉ in 2002, Aisling worked in Marketing and Research in The Golden Pages and Meteor Mobile Communications.

Richard Kelly is Sales Director of Sky Media Ireland, the media sales arm of Sky Ireland.

Richard joined Sky in February 2000 and has held a number of positions across the UK and Ireland prior to his appointment as Sales Director in 2007.

He is responsible for the sales of all advertising solutions across a portfolio of 23 channels, display, VoD and mobile products.
